What Makes Millennials So Different?
Millennials are the new generation of workers born after 1982. They have grown up with personal computers, cable, music videos, video games and now search engines as daily interfaces. This has created actual physical changes in the way their brains work, revealed by functional M.R.I.’s.
Why Does Everyone Want to "Fix" Them?
Parents, educators and employers often perceive them as disloyal, apathetic, dysfunctional, illiterate, unwilling to be trained and refusing to be scheduled or instructed with traditional methods.
What is being observed is actually their ability to think in non-linear ways, their early recognition of corporate and educational “games” and that they see no need to be “educated” when the information they need is constantly changing and a click or two away.
Why Do They Have So Much Potential?
They have been dubbed “Crash Test Geniuses©” because they aren’t afraid to “reboot” and learn faster from failure than anything else. This means that they feel no guilt about walking off the job if it doesn’t seem to be working.
It also means that they can and will take on market shifts, innovative problem solving and product creation without the fear of failure that paralyzes previous generations.
Where Can They Do the Most Damage?
The number one factor in improving the customer's experience and satisfaction is hiring and keeping the best employees. High employee turnover is a common complaint about Millennials. Losing customers is more costly than all forms of internal losses combined and employees will never do more for the customer than managers are doing for them. Add the high cost of training using traditional methods and you have a perfect storm scenario.
You don’t have a choice anymore whether or not you will hire Millennials, they are the 100 million strong generation entering the workforce and they are distinctly different than previous generations.
You still have choices that will impact both your bottom line and corporate relevance:
The N2Millennials team does a detailed observation and evaluation of your company or workgroup. Our primary discovery tools are Social Network Analysis and Root Cause Analysis. These reveal the internal matrix of people, relationships and procedures that directly impact behavior, employee retention, productivity, customer service and profitability.
What Is Social Network Analysis? Free Video - Approximately 17 minutes
Using these metrics, we create a specific, detailed plan and set up meetings and recommendations to start the upgrade.
Our previous customers have experienced reduction in voluntary turnover by no less than 50% within the first 90 days of implementing our recommended upgrades.
This is accomplished without increasing compensation or recurring costs.
Keeping more people is not the only objective. Ensuring that you keep people with the highest levels of experience, key internal relationships and who have the ability to work with complex processes is critical.
This means that keeping your very best employees is a focus as we analyze your company.
No, but we do have over 10 years experience dealing with Fortune 500 companies, many of which are repeat clients. This is because they experience measurable results and also because we are continually learning and looking for new and better ways to enhance the tremendous potential Millennials bring to the workforce.
We don’t offer simplistic, “magic bullet”, buzzword fixes. Real results come from real changes in group dynamics and systems, not catchy slogans and pep rally seminars.
We also facilitate on-going learning experiences that help get new team members up to speed and communicate what we are learning from research and from other success oriented companies. Books, e-courses, newsletters, articles and blogs are ways we build feedback into keeping your team upgraded.

Bridging the Gap Between Analysis and Implementation is Critical to Achieve High Performance
Our team and our systems are designed to keep the needs of the corporation and its shareholders, management, team leaders, employees and the customers in sight. Solutions are created to increase employee retention, maximize Tenure Equity and improve productivity, profitability and customer satisfaction.
Measurable results are a focus. Since we use data and analysis to reveal problems, the same measurements are used to show improvements over time. In order to implement these new strategies, we not only brief the executive team, we incorporate group workshops and seminars for managers and team leaders.
When the objective is to create a strong Social Network within the organization that creates a great place for everyone to work and increased profitability, it is essential that front line managers and executives are initiators and supporters of change.
These classes review the current state of the company's Social Network, the efficiency of information and resource sharing, where the critical hubs and connectors within the organization are and what can be done to support and reward these key employees that may not be represented on the organizational chart - but are essential team members.
Training in Acknowledgment and programs to improve interactions with Millennials, recruiting and employee retention strategies are also a part of the customized system created after we "do the math" and map the network.
Webinars Combine the Interaction and Flexibility of a Conference Call with the Multi-Media Information of a Traditional Presentation
Using an internet connection, Webinars can be accessed live or reviewed at your convenience from our archive. We offer private Corporate Webinars to securely present and discuss the issues we are consulting with your company on.
Classes designed to train all employees in how to create a culture of Trust and Acknowledgment are highly effective in reducing turnover and increasing profitability.
For Entrepreneurs, small businesses and professionals, we offer Public Webinars that cover topics of interest for ongoing education. Sign up for our Newsletter to see announcements of upcoming Public Webinars on a variety of topics.

Our solutions are based on years of experience with a wide variety of corporations, all of whom have had serious issues with employee retention, preserving Tenure Equity, and difficulties providing quality customer service.
The Millennial workforce responds differently to training and policies than previous generations and many employers and executives are frustrated with their attitudes and behaviors.
Key team members have Forensic Accounting, CFO and CPA backgrounds that give us a distinct insight and focus on solutions that really make sense and have a measurable impact on the bottom line and shareholder value.
Increasing productivity and profitability are side effects of creating positive dynamics in the workplace, improving team interactions and training and reducing turnover among new employees and highly experienced older employees.
We create an emphasis on continuing education and follow-up. This means that we have more accountability and aren't just running in and offering some kind of feel good, buzzword du jour tactics we think might be a good idea. On the contrary, we work with your team to create evolving solutions that take commitment, communications, trust and respect for other team members.
Because of this, we have a policy of reviewing whether or not we believe our team can make a measurable difference before we agree to a consulting contract.
Scott Degraffenreid, our lead consultant has an unblemished record of producing significant reductions in employee turnover and increasing productivity in hundreds of companies.

Our newest versions of the Acknowledgment and Referral Marketing books as well as the first printing of "Understanding the Millennial Mind: A Menace or Amazing?" are being printed now and will be available through the site and other venues in fall 2008.
Do you have Audiobook versions of the books?
We expect to have these available later this year. Currently we do have audio versions of the e-Courses that include a workbook.
Why don't you call Millennials "Generation Y"?
Generation Y was coined by a generational "expert" who was punning "Generation Why?" which is offensive to Millennials. It also implies that there Millennials are the next version of Generation X - which they are clearly and markedly not similar to.
We hired a "Generational Consultant" and they suggested parties, awards and basically acting like "Mr. Rogers" or a TV psychologist to pacify our Millennial team members. What do you do that is different?
Our strategies and actual consulting work are based on science, math and measurement of actual behavior...not anecdotal observations or opinions.
There are clear patterns of behavior that cause Millennials to quit and to cause "problems" (aka Millennial Issues) - there are also clear patterns of behavior that channel their unique capabilities, increase profitability and create a better place to work for all employees, not just the Millennials.
We pay a lot of attention to Tenure Equity and making sure that all employees are motivated and benefit.
Why do they wear their pants halfway down or hanging off their butts?
This is addressed in our course, but here is a partial explanation -
First - they express a lot of individuality through the wide variety of underwear exposed...
Also - they know it irritates older people and that amuses them.
N2Millennials is creating an exciting and dynamic competition that will allow exactly that to happen. We are inviting interested businesses that would welcome a team of hand-picked Millennials to revise their company in the ACE model to help prove its’ power and effectiveness. Selected candidates (companies) must demonstrate a willingness to accept radical ACE innovation. The winner will be the company that most completely and effectively embraces the solutions of their Millennial advisory team. That company will also receive the first Annual N2Millennials ACE Award.
Details will be announced here - Please contact Kathryn Booth for application information and press kit.
More information about the ACE model is in the July 2008 Newsletter.
